Its definitely been a while! I've been posting some stuff in another site and completely forgot about my blog! (Which I plan on following other people so people can actually start to follow me) Um, so in this other site Im talking about, which I recommend you check it out and sign up! Its such a wonderful place. It allowed me to feel comfortable with myself to post some of my work for the world to see. And I've never showed my stuff to ANYONE. Seriously. And I got really great feed back. The site is www.compassionandpeace.org and the founder is an amazing, talented and truly inspirational musician, Blake Bliss. (heres his youtube channel if your not already suscribed to him:http://www.youtube.com/user/blakebliss ) People there are non-judgemental :)
So yeah, that is what's up with me lately. Im currently reading a book called Nicholas Dane by Melvin Burgess. Its so devastatingly sad. Short little summary is this boy's mom dies and he has no one to take care of him, so they sent him to live in a boys home. He then gets beaten every day and punished for it when he never started those fights. The staff beat him like they would to men. (theyre only children!) And the most horrible thing happens to him, rape. more the once by someone he trusted. So sad. I hate it, but I have to finish it. I would recommend it to you only if you can take harsh, unfair and unjust stories. I havent finished it yet, so I dont know if it ends on a happy note or not. But I think its always better to open your eyes to the truth of things then closing them. Id much rather know whats really going in the world then only knowing the pretty, flowery alls peachy stories. yeah those are important too, but the ugly ones are also not to be forgotten and dismissed. This book is really difficult because of all the things done to this poor innocent 14 year old, but I think Melvin did a fantastic job in showing us the ugly side of how group homes can be for these kids in the system.
Now, on a more brighter note :) I shall post here my first poem to you guys. I alreayd posted this on compassionandpeace. If you like to join you can add me my user is: Allie
Enjoy :) and no hate comments!
Underneath
everyone thinks she has it all
nice hair,nice clothes, nice smile.
but whats going on underneath?
her insides are screamin
no one can hear her cry for help
its clawing,wanting to escape
but she keeps it in check
so that no one will know
how broken she is underneath
she plays the part so perfectly
but underneath skin and bones
she hides the pain from you and me
the sharp silver beckons her
caressing it against her skin
deeper and deeper it goes
telling her it can all end now
all the pain hidden underneath
one day itll all come crashin down
the walls she built all around
will slowly tumble bit by bit
shes scared to face whats underneath
all those demons feeding her hate
when will someone figure her out?
that her "image" is all but fake
she tries to find the light, but doubts
is there someone out there for help?
but no escape card has been dealt
alone, she faces her demons
to no longer be the victim
going deep down to the core
all the pain that she stored
but one day shell find the light
to give her the strength to fight
finally opening her heart
believing shes a work of art
no need to pretend anymore
ending her lifelong war.
Thank you for reading :) I hope you enjoyed it!
